All clocks in the sfptpd PTP slave server can be stepped at any time using the sfptpdctl utility.

Clocks will be stepped, forwards or backwards, into the same second period as the parent clock.

When clocks are stepped, entries similar to the following are generated in the sfptpd message log or stats_log:

# sfptpdctl stepclocks
notice: received 'stepclocks' control command: stepping clocks to current offset
