AMD adapters are supplied with a full height bracket fitted to the adapter. A low-profile bracket has also been supplied for PCIe slots that require this type of bracket.
To change the bracket that is fitted to the adapter:
- Detach the fitted bracket from the adapter. Refer to the following figure:
- Remove and retain the gold hex nuts from the two PPS connectors labeled IN and OUT.
- Remove the four screws securing the fitted bracket.
- Slide out the bracket from underneath the metal backplate and away from the adapter.
- Slide in the replacement bracket between the PCB and the metal backplate, locating it in position.
- Attach the replacement bracket to the adapter using the new screws
supplied:
- Loosely fit the two longer screws through the metal backplate underneath the adapter.
- Fit and tighten the two shorter screws through the front face of the bracket. Torque to 1.5 in‑lbf ±0.5 in‑lbf (0.17 Nm ±0.05 Nm).
- Tighten the two longer screws. Torque to 1.5 in‑lbf ±0.5 in‑lbf (0.17 Nm ±0.05 Nm).
- Re-fit and tighten the two gold hex nuts onto the PPS connectors. Torque to 1.5 in‑lbf ±0.5 in‑lbf (0.17 Nm ±0.05 Nm).
Take care not to over-tighten the screws or the hex nuts.
