To group multiple ports or buses
together, you can create an interface. This aids in pin assignment by treating all of
the interface ports as one group. Assigning all of the pins simultaneously helps
condense and isolate the interface for clock region or PCB routing. This also makes it
easier to visualize and manage the signals associated with a particular logic
interface.
To create an interface:
- In the I/O Ports window, select the signals to group together.
- Right-click, and select Create I/O Port Interface.
- In the Create I/O Port Interface dialog box (see the following
figure), enter a name for the interface, adjust assignment selection, and click
OK.
The interfaces appear as expandable folders in the I/O Ports window as shown in the following figure.
Tip: To delete interfaces, select an interface, right-click, and select Delete, or press the Delete key.
