A display theme is a group of color settings that you can change from the Themes list. The Vivado IDE supports two built-in display themes:

Vivado Light Theme
A light-background theme optimized for readability in well-lit environments. This is the default theme.
Vivado Dark Theme
A dark-background theme designed to reduce eye strain in low-light environments.

Use the following instructions to change the display theme:

  1. Select Tools > Settings > Themes.
  2. Select the theme you want.
  3. Click OK.

The new theme applies immediately, and you do not need to restart the Vivado IDE.

The selected theme affects all IDE windows, dialogs, and graphical views. Affected elements include the Device window, Notifications, Hierarchical Tables, IP configuration panels, CED images, and tooltips.

Note: A few rendered elements, such as window title bars and borders, might not fully reflect the selected Vivado theme because of operating-system rendering limitations.
Tip: The Vivado default theme is designed for optimal display on computer monitors. The Vivado light theme displays well when you use a projector.
Note: Vivado defines these default options in the vivado.xml file. For more information, refer to Outputs for Environment Configuration.
