Block floating-point formats (16 values per block). These apply to AIE-ML only.

Type Bytes/Block Values/Block
varray.mx4 8 16
varray.mx6 12 16
varray.mx9 18 16
data = varray.mx9(1:16);                          % default rounding = 0
data = varray.mx9(1:32, roundingMethod=12);       % convergent, ties to even
disp(data.getRoundingMethodName())

Valid roundingMethod values are shown in the following table.

Value Mode
0 Floor (toward −∞)
1 Ceiling (toward +∞)
2 Symmetric toward 0
3 Symmetric toward ±∞
8 / 9 Halfway toward −∞ / +∞
10 / 11 Symmetric halfway toward 0 / ±∞
12 / 13 Convergent halfway toward even / odd

The total number of elements in the array must be a multiple of 16. Scalars and matrixes whose flat length is not a multiple of 16 are rejected with the message "For MX data types, the number of elements must be a multiple of 16". MX types do not accept complex input.
