You can open the Waveform Viewer in either of the following ways:
- Opening from right-click menu:
Right-click in your model and select AMD Waveform Viewer....
Figure 1. AMD Waveform ViewerIf you open it from the right-click menu, the Waveform Viewer opens with the following display:
- If you are opening the Waveform Viewer for this design for the first
time, it shows only the clock signal waveforms and hides all others. You can add the
signals from your design that you want to monitor in Waveform Viewer display. See Adding Signals to the Waveform Viewer Display.Figure 2. Waveform Viewer Display
- If you previously monitored signals in the Waveform Viewer and saved
the data, the viewer opens with those signal names. It also displays the waveforms from
your last session.Figure 3. Signals in Waveform Viewer
- If you have previously monitored signals in the Waveform Viewer for
this design, but cannot access the saved data (for example, if you moved the model's SLX
file to a different directory, and opened it in the new directory), the Waveform Viewer
opens displaying the signal names for the signals monitored when you last saved the
model. The Waveform Viewer will not show the waveforms for the monitored signals until
you re-simulate the model.Figure 4. Waveform Viewer New Signals

Opening after simulation:
If you have previously monitored signals in the Waveform Viewer for your design, the Waveform Viewer opens automatically when you simulate your model.
- If you are opening the Waveform Viewer for this design for the first
time, it shows only the clock signal waveforms and hides all others. You can add the
signals from your design that you want to monitor in Waveform Viewer display. See Adding Signals to the Waveform Viewer Display.
