The Modular NoC flow introduces an alternative method for RTL developers to access Versal NoC resources. Historically, access to the NoC was only achievable by placing an AXI NoC IP on a Block Design canvas. RTL developers were required to route AXI interfaces through the RTL to the Block Design to connect them to NoC resources. The Modular NoC achieves several benefits for the RTL user including:
- Enables direct access to the NoC from RTL using XPMs
- Eliminates the requirement that RTL developers connect all AXI interfaces to a block diagram to access NoC resources
- Maintains compatibility with the existing NoC solution that requires instantiating NoC resources on a Block Design canvas
