Certain IP assists in the creation of the clocking structures. The Clocking Wizard and Advanced IO Wizard assist with selecting and creating clocking resources and structure, including the following:
- BUFG
- BUFGCE
- BUFGCE_DIV
- BUFGCTRL
- Clock modifying blocks such as:
- Mixed Mode Clocking Manager (MMCM)
- XPLL
- DPLL
More complex IP, such as PCIe or Transceivers Wizard IP, can also include clocking structures as part of the overall IP. This can provide additional clocking resources if properly taken into account. If not taken into account, it can limit some clocking options for the remainder of the design.
AMD highly recommends understanding the clocking requirements for any instantiated IP. Leverage the clocking capabilities and resources in other portions of the design where possible.
