Application Security Unit (ASU) in Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 and Versal Prime Series Gen 2 platform replaces the PSM subsystem that existed in the PS-LPD of the previous Versal devices. The ASU subsystem will include a redundant MicroBlaze RISC-V processor core that employs Temporal Lockstep in which one of the cores lags the other one by a few cycles (2 cycles). The primary role is to provide cryptographic services for various applications running on the APU, RPU, and PL. Versal Security Libraries User Guide (UG1540) will contain more insight information about all the client services provided through the xilasu library.
