Run the report_power command on an implemented design with power constraints applied to validate initial power estimates and thermal assumptions. The report_power command also reports margin relative to the specified constraints, helping ensure the design remains within the defined power budget. Running multiple implementations with varying place‑and‑route directives and subdirectives enable identification of solutions that best satisfy both timing and power goals. Ensure to include report_power for each run to select the lowest power implementation that meets timing requirements. For details on running multiple implementations, including an example script, refer to this link in the Versal Adaptive SoC System Integration and Validation Methodology Guide (UG1388).

Power Tip: If your design exceeds the power constraints, a quick way to run a “what if" analysis is to export the results to the Power Design Manager (PDM) tool and make adjustments to see the impact on power.
