Each of the 16 XMPU memory regions is independently configurable with the following attributes. Use ACE to configure regions.

Table 1. Memory Region Attributes
Attribute Description
Enable Activates the region for address and SMID matching.
Address range Start and end addresses. Granularity: 1 MB or 4 KB, the same for all 16 regions on a controller.
SMID 10-bit Security Master ID from the NoC USER field. Set to ANY (value 0x0, mask 0x3FF) to match all masters.
Encryption type
  • none (pass-through)
  • xts (XTS-AES-256)
  • gcm (AES-GCM-256)
num_keys Number of keys allocated to the region. Must be a power of 2. The total number of keys for all regions cannot exceed 1024 for GCM, or 512 for XTS.

auto: ACE selects based on region size.

Access Mode
  • read/write (default)
  • read only
  • write only
  • block
  • exclusive_access
Secure Mode
  • non-secure (all managers, default)
  • secure (secure managers only)
  • strict_non_secure (non-secure managers only).
Important: Encrypted regions must not overlap each other—each encrypted region owns a distinct key set. Overlapping encrypted regions produce undefined behavior. Non-encrypted regions can overlap; the highest-numbered matching region takes priority when multiple non-encrypted regions match a transaction.
