The CMS IP supports management of network plug-in modules via the mailbox, as specified in the following table.

  1. QSFP - Modules tested support SFF-8636 revision compliance 2.5+
  2. DSFP - Modules tested support CMIS revision compliance 4.0+
  3. SFP+ - Modules tested support SFF-8472 revision compliance 10.2+
  4. When using these cards, CMS IP is not needed for Network communication. Refer to Alveo UL3522 and Alveo UL3524 for QSFP reference designs.

The mailbox interface supports the following network plug-in module management features:

  • I2C access for diagnostics and control
  • Low speed I/O status and control

The messages required to perform these functions are defined in the following table.
