The following are a few general guidelines for GT Quad users in IP integrator:

  • The design entry for GT Quad-based designs in IP integrator is AMD IP or GT Bridge IP in pass-through mode. GT Bridge IP in pass-through mode is specifically for custom IPs to use GT Quad in IP integrator. With the current IP, the suggestion is to use either AMD IP or GT Bridge IP to configure the GT Quad base IP. Once the GT Quad base is configured, user can modify Advance setting
  • The parent IP hosts the GT configuration on the interfaces in the IP integrator. The Transmitter configuration settings are a part of the TX interface, and the Receiver configuration settings are a part of the RX Interface. The Transmitter configuration is displayed in TX_SETTINGS in the Block Interface Properties window, as shown in the following figure. Based on the connections made to GT Quad in the IP integrator, GT Quad can auto-infer the configuration. The configuration settings propagate from the parent IP to GT Quad after the design is validated.

The following is the example of TX_SETTINGS for the Aurora IP.
Figure 2. Snapshot of Quad Settings on TX Interface
Similarly, RX Interface on the Aurora IP has RX SETTINGS for the GT Quad. The GT Quad configuration after the propagation of parameters from Aurora IP to GT Quad IP is shown in the following figure.
Figure 3. GT Quad configuration corresponding to Aurora Configuration
  • We highly recommended not configuring the GT Quad explicitly (changing AUTO to MANUAL mode) in IP integrator. Use the auto-infer capability of GT Quad to propagate the configuration based on the connections in the design.
  • To fine-tune parameters like insertion loss, equalization, and other advanced settings, as shown in the following figure, you can change the “AUTO” option to “MANUAL” mode for “Transceiver Configs Protocol” and edit the GT Quad configuration.

  • Changing the GT Quad configuration to manual mode might result in write_bd_tcl failures. For more information, refer to AR 000034832.
  • After toggling to the manual mode, any changes to the parent IP configurations followed by validate design step no longer propagates GT Quad settings from the parent IP to GT Quad.
