The NoC Compiler uses the average burst length to estimate NoC packet overhead. This overhead gets added onto the requested bandwidth to establish the overall bandwidth required to meet QoS.
Given the discussion of NoC packet overheads in the previous section, it is important to provide as accurate an average burst size as possible. To enter this value in the NoC QoS tab, ensure the Advanced checkbox is selected as shown in the following figure.
Entering an average burst size that is too small adds more overhead than necessary to the bandwidth estimates, possibly making it more difficult for the NoC compiler to find a solution. Entering an average burst size that is too large could result in reduced system performance, because the NoC compiler might not allocate enough bandwidth to account for the overhead.
