The DisplayPort 1.4 RX Subsystem supports receiving static HDR metadata through CTA Extended InfoFrame transmission with Dynamic VSC_EXT_CTA SDP (SDP type 0x21), as defined in the CTA-861-G specification, Section 6.10.1.

  • To advertise HDR support to the source device, set bit [2] of AXI4-Lite register offset 0x00C to 1. This enables DPCD 0x2210 bit [6], indicating VSC_EXT_CTA SDP support.
  • VSC_EXT_CTA_SDP_CHAINING is not supported. DPCD 0x2210 bit [7] is hard-coded to 0.
  • Dynamic Range and Mastering SDP (packet type 0x80 + 0x07) is not supported. Some third-party GPU sources use this method for static HDR, but the DisplayPort 1.4 RX Subsystem does not recognize this packet type.
