The DisplayPort 1.4 TX Subsystem supports transmitting static
HDR metadata through the Extended Packet register interface. Refer to offset 0x330–0x350
(TX_AUDIO_EXT_DATA) in DisplayPort Audio Registers for
details.
TX places no restriction on which packet type is sent through this interface; VSC, VSC_EXT_CTA, Copy Management, ISRC, or Dynamic Range and Mastering InfoFrame packets can all be transmitted, at the application's discretion. The DisplayPort 1.4 TX Subsystem performs no validation of packet content or type; the application is responsible for constructing a specification-compliant packet, including selecting the packet type expected by the target sink.
Note: If interoperating with the AMD DisplayPort 1.4 RX Subsystem, use VSC_EXT_CTA SDP (packet type
0x21); AMD RX does
not recognize Dynamic Range and Mastering SDP (packet type 0x87).
