The magnitude detector block is used to monitor the RF-ADC data and detect when the signal magnitude is lower than a certain threshold. The block monitors either 4 or 8 parallel input words. The number of input word monitored per channel is based on the RF-ADC configuration (quad or dual channel tile).
The following figure shows the location of the magnitude detector on the RF-ADC data path. Each RF-ADC channel has its own magnitude detector block.
The purpose of the block is to detect when the signal magnitude is lower or higher than a certain programmable threshold and output the state of the signal as a live asynchronous status to the programmable logic. The output status to the fabric is the signal state. The signal state is either deemed to be ON or OFF.
