The current Auto-Negotiation and Link Training (ANLT) implementation in the 10G/25G High Speed Ethernet Subsystem is based on soft-RTL AN/LT logic and is supported only on UltraScale+ and UltraScale device families. Earlier versions did not provide ANLT support for Versal devices.

Starting with version 5.1, ANLT support has been extended to Versal adaptive SoC devices. When the Versal GT Wizard Subsystem is selected (IS_GT_WIZ_OLD = 0) and ANLT is enabled, the IP leverages the native ANLT block within the Versal GT Wizard Subsystem IP. TheAXI4-Lite interface accesses the associated ANLT registers. The IP example design generation flow produces a Versal-specific example design and test bench that interacts with the GT Wizard Subsystem ANLT registers through the AXI4 interface. The auto-negotiation process allows two Ethernet devices to exchange capabilities and agree on parameters, such as operating speed and FEC mode. The system then performs link training to optimize GT transmit and receive equalization coefficients and improve link performance.
