The universal flash storage (UFS) is a host controller that can be used for general flash memory storage and/or as an autonomous, primary boot device. The UFS controller supports UFS Host 3.0 which is compatible with UFS 3.0 and 3.1 devices. The UFS subsystem includes two TX and two RX transceivers running at 11.66 Gb/s for a maximum bandwidth of 23.32 Gb/s. The UFS controller located in I/O peripheral subsystem of the PMC.

The UFS controller transceiver interface provides significantly higher transfer rates than other flash memory interfaces. The flash device can be embedded on the board or attached in slot. The controller can provide boot and post-boot flash storage.
