All adaptive SoCs include the platform management controller (PMC). The PMC is responsible for boot, configuration, partial-reconfiguration, and other platform management tasks. The PMC includes the deeply embedded ROM code unit (RCU) for device boot from BootROM, and a platform processing unit (PPU) that executes the platform loader and manager (PLM) firmware. The PMC is located in the low-power domain (LPD) and must always be on to operate the device.

The PLM firmware also manages the processing system management (PSM) controller including firmware downloads and management coordination.

The functional units are listed in the PMC Subsystem chapter. Details of the platform management and control are described in Platform Boot, Control, and Status.
