Documentation Navigator stores application data in a user-specific Application Directory location. The location is automatically determined when the application starts up based on standard system settings. To view the location of the Application Data Directory, open the Runtime Environment tab in the Settings Dialog. A different Application Data Directory exists on each user's local machine. Some files such as Document Catalog and the Search Index files found in the Application Data Directory are downloaded from the Xilinx website during catalog updates.
When the application runs for the first time, several of the files in this Application Data Directory are copied from the installation directory. These files are often updated each time the application opens and closes. If a file appears corrupted, delete it. Next time, when you run the application, the file is copied again from the installation directory.
Normally, the files in the Application Data Directory are not affected when moving between versions of the application. The user settings are preserved when moving from one version of the application to the next.
Downloads are recorded in a file named downloads.xml which is read each time the application starts up. This file is updated programmatically and is not intended for direct editing.
