A BDC itself is simply a mechanism to enforce hierarchical processing of the overall IP integrator project. Each BDC can be synthesized out-of-context, but implementation at this point still flattens the design for optimization, place and route tasks. To turn a BDC into a RP, double-click on the BDC to open the Customize Block Design Container dialog box. Check the box labeled Enable Dynamic Function eXchange (DFX). The current block design is now a RM, as are any new design sources added to this BDC.
