After the subsystem is verified using a standard platform, the subsystem can be integrated with the custom platform. In this step, the complete system is integrated, including the PL resources of the custom platform. The focus in this step is to close timing and meet performance goals using the custom platform. This is why it is important to verify and debug AI Engine and PL integration issues in previous steps using a standard platform.

The PL portion of the design is run through Vivado synthesis as well as place and route, and standard Vivado implementation and optimization techniques apply. Then, the Vitis environment creates and configures the Vivado project. This gives you complete access to the Vivado project as well as intermediate checkpoints and allows you to run any required Vivado Tcl scripts to meet your goals.

For more information on how to assemble and verify the adaptable system on hardware, see the Implementation section and System Bring Up and Validation section of the Versal Adaptive SoC Design Process Documentation: System Integration and Validation.
