In software update mode, the required processing in software for these operations increases with the fill level of the CAM database. The required processing increases with CAM width but not with CAM depth.
In hardware update mode, the required processing in the FPGA increases with the fill level of the CAM database. The width of the CAM affects FPGA resource utilization at build time in hardware update mode.
